May be a bit of a stretch but why not go after a seasoned coach that may have 3-4 years left in their coaching tank and simultaneously name TJ that persons successor. Kind of what they did at MSU with Heathcote / Izzo. Could be a guy like Larry Brown, LE, ect. This would negate negative recruiting regarding LT plan and we could pay a little more upfront and have coach in the wings waiting.
Give them a 4 year contract and we have name coach and a future succession plan in TJ. I would be very reluctant to give the reigns to any Mid Major coaches. More failures than successes. Plus it eliminates that coach looking for the next big move - leaving us high and dry again.
