5 years ago, Iowa State University did Fred a big favor. ISU hired someone with "no head coaching experience". This was his dream job, the mayor coming home. Well, now with an annual salary of over $2,000,000.00, wouldn't you think someone living in Iowa would be extremely satisfied? The average income in Iowa is around $55,000. Most of the state embraced him with a warm welcome. The last few weeks we seem to be getting no indication from him/or his spokesperson, if he is truly happy at Iowa State. Many of us love Iowa State so much that we consider his family our family, too. But to be silent for such a long time is painful. You don't treat family like this. You would think working with student athletes at this level would be extremely rewarding. The NBA is business only. The critics in that business are brutal. IF Fred wishes to move on, perhaps sooner is better than later? We have a great program. If he could have, Johnny Orr would have coached Iowa State until he was 100.
