A defensive end from the Missouri high school ranks has had an Iowa State offer for several months and likes the direction of the program under head coach Matt Campbell.
Columbia Rock Bridge Class of 2020 prospect Jalen Logan-Redding said his recruitment from the Cyclones has slowed down, but he still holds them in high regard.
“I haven’t heard from them in a while, especially at this time of the year with everyone being busy,” said Logan-Redding. “Students have test going on at the end of the semester and are wrapping things up. Spring ball is wrapping up, too. I’m assuming that they’re busy.
“Iowa State has had a pretty good program and I think they could have something going. They’re building things up and are going in the right direction. I want to see them go upwards from there. I’m still getting letters from them every now and then. I haven’t made plans for a visit and don’t know if I’ll be going on one in the future.”
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end said one of ISU’s mantras has stuck in his mind during offseason workouts.
“I know one of the big things up there is ‘winning in the dark’ and I’ve taken that very seriously,” Logan-Redding said. “I’ve seen that on their letters and on Twitter. I hadn’t heard that from a program before. It’s encouraged me to work hard when you’re not being noticed or recognized. I’ve told that to other people…challenge yourself when you’re not being seen.”
In addition to the one he’s had from ISU, Logan-Redding has Power-5 offers from Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Purdue and Texas.
Logan-Redding is a three-star prospect with a 5.6 Rivals rating and is considered the 17th overall player in Missouri for the 2020 class.
The next step for the defensive end is whittling down his list of schools this summer.
“I’m trying to work on that and will probably come out with it soon,” Logan-Redding said. “With June coming around the corner, I want to see how that works out. The recruiting process is going great and I’m enjoying life right now. I’m blessed with all the things that have come my way.”
