Ioway Creek. You know. The one that runs close to Hilton and occasionally leaves its banks. The name change of Squaw Creek to Ioway Creek has been officially approved.
Years ago Squaw Creek Golf Course in Marion was renamed as was the nearby park. I was unaware that Squaw had an offensive connotation. Historically I don't think it was, but time changed that. Put this in the same category as Okie to me. Neither were derogatory terms to me, but I have since been enlightened.
