Third Quarter:

Following their field goal in the final seconds of the first half, the Horned Frogs capitalized on getting possession to start the third quarter. It took them just eight plays to go 86 yards for a touchdown to lead 31-21 with 11:24 remaining. The biggest play of the drive came on 2nd-and-6 when Trevone Boykin found Desmon White over the middle for a 47-yard pass. Kyle Hicks capped off the scoring drive with a 14-yard touchdown run.

In need of an answer to back-to-back Horned Frog scores, the Cyclones didn’t get it. On the fifth play from scrimmage, Sam Richardson was crushed on a back-side blitz and fumbled. TCU’s Josh Carraway scooped up the fumble to give his team possession at the Horned Frog 42-yard line.

Both sides traded punts midway through the third quarter, before the Horned Frogs set their sights on the end zone once again. As the quarter expired, TCU had 2nd-and-5 from the Cyclone 25-yard line.

Advantage: TCU.
