Fourth Quarter:

With the ball and a 14-point lead, the offense couldn’t take advantage and would pick up just one first down before the punt team came out.

Baylor took advantage with another quick-hitting drive that spanned 86 yards and eight plays, spanning just 2:03 of clock. Shock Linwood and Terence Williams continued their assault on the ISU defense, rushing a combined four times for 61 yards. Seth Russell’s one-yard quarterback keeper capped off the drive which cut into the Cyclone lead, 42-35, with 11:40 left in the quarter.

The Bear defense stopped ISU three-and-out on the ensuing possession and got the ball back down seven with 10:07 left to play. The offense took advantage and tied the game behind its running game, going 10 plays and 84 yards to tie the score at 42-42 with 6:27 left to play. Terence Williams’ two-yard touchdown run capped off the drive.

Iowa State’s offense went three-and-out for just the second time in the game at a critical time, and Baylor would have the ball with the chance to win it. When the ground game was working, there was no reason for it to go against it. The Bears went 18 plays and 83 yards, getting a 19-yard field goal from Chris Callahan to win the game. During the decisive drive, they rushed 14 times for 60 yards.

Advantage: Baylor.
