Iowa State has had a frequent presence at a high school in Georgia during the past several months and recently was back at the school to offer a Class of 2019 running back.
Roswell Blessed Trinity standout rusher Steele Chambers said the Cyclones have been keeping tabs on his since an evaluation period earlier this year and it finally culminated in an offer.
“I was coming out of school after testing and my coach came up to me and said Iowa State wanted to offer me and liked what I was doing this year,” said Chambers. “I originally talked to them in March when one of their coaches came up and introduced himself to me. They kept tabs on me throughout the season and just offered me a few weeks ago.”
The Cyclone staff liked what it saw of Chambers this season, as he rushed 213 times for 1,486 yards on the season. He also played defense for his school. He was a member of the Class AAAA All-State Team and the Regional Offensive Player of the Year.
“Iowa State really likes that I’ve gotten bigger and stronger, and that it really showed on my game tape. I looked like a better athlete this year compared to last year. I went out there this fall focused on my speed and agility, being faster. I also worked a lot on getting a stronger lower body.”
The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Chambers is not the only Blessed Trinity athlete to be offered in recent weeks, as the Cyclones also offered one of his sophomore classmates.
“I was pretty excited when I heard about the offer and I was even more excited because one of my buddies JD Bertrand also had gotten one that same day,” Chambers said.
Chambers and Bertrand aren’t the only Blessed Trinity standouts to have offers from the Cyclones, who hosted 2017 offensive lineman Jacob Bolton for an official visit a few weeks ago. At this point, much of what Chambers knows about his offer school is what Bolton has shared.
“I haven’t really done much research on it, but one of our linemen is really close with that school,” Chambers said. “He told me that it’s a great campus and all the players are really nice. He says it is just really an overall great school.”
Chambers has collected offers from ISU and Vanderbilt, to go with early P5 interest from Alabama, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Stanford.
