AMES, Iowa – For the fourth time since 2015, Iowa State has sold out of tickets for its first two home football games, as Saturday’s season-opening game vs. UNI joins the Cyclones’ Sept. 11 game against Iowa in the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series as sold-out games at MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium.
It marks the ninth and 10 time ISU has sold-out Jack Trice Stadium under the 61,500-capacity configuration which started in 2015.
Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard noted a few weeks ago the Department broke a school mark by surpassing 48,000 season tickets sold, and was optimistic that the Cardinal and Gold faithful would purchase 49,000 season tickets by season-opener. That goal was attained today, as Pollard announced the Department reached the 49,000 threshold for the first time in school history, and are sitting at 49,049 season tickets sold as of the close of business today.
“There is tremendous excitement surrounding our Top 10 program and an amazing tradition of loyalty and support among our fanbase,” Pollard said. “Matt Campbell, his staff and student-athletes have done a phenomenal job in raising the standard of Cyclone Football. Selling out the first two games and establishing a school-record season ticket total affirms the success and national status of our football program.”
A limited number of Jr. Cyclone Club season passes, for the hillsides, remain on sale for $69 and may be purchased on-line at www.cyclones.com.
Iowa State, ranked No. 7 in the preseason AP poll, its highest AP ranking of all-time, returns 19 starters from last year’s PlayStation Fiesta Bowl championship team that went 9-3.
The Iowa State-UNI game will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. (Central) on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
