A three-star defensive back from the state of Florida has several Power-5 offers to his credit and recently added one from Iowa State after an assistant coach visited his school.
Former Coconut Creek standout Stanley Garner, a Class of 2018 prospect, has made some big impressions on college coaches given his 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame.
“The Iowa State coach was down here at Coconut Creek and then later on my head coach called me to the office,” said Garner. “He said Iowa State was looking at me, really like me and that he showed them my film.
“They liked me so much that they decided to offer. According to my coach, they really like my size and that I’m very physical at the line. They think I’m a very good fit for the program and would look good up there.”
Garner said the offer from the Cyclones came on October 21st and joined a list of P5 offers that includes Auburn, Clemson, South Carolina, Miami (Fla.), Indiana and Oregon State.
Given a 5.6 Rivals Rating, Garner said he hopes to attain a fourth star in the near-future with his physical play on the football field as a junior.
“Coaches really like that I love to put my hands on somebody on the line of scrimmage,” Garner said. “They like my physical ability at the line. They like my size, in that I’m a tall defensive back at 6-foot-3.”
Unofficial visits to college programs is still a few months off for Garner, who is now involved in another sport.
“I’m just focused on my basketball season right now, but as soon as the season is over I’ll be taking some trips,” he said.
Originally at Fort Lauderdale Dillard before transferring to Coconut Creek to play this season, Garner has since transferred back to Dillard after his team went 1-9 this fall.
