Rockledge High School was one of those teams 5A Florida squads did not want to face last fall. The Raiders pushed their record to 9-3 behind a run heavy offense anchored with 2023 tackle Bryce Lovett. College scouts are now looking at Lovett to be their anchor with 14 offers down, an impressive list that includes Kentucky, Arkansas, Iowa State, and Florida.
Lovett spoke about his March visit to Fayetteville spending time with the Hogs.
“We were there for two days,” Lovett said. “On the first day we chilled. I talked to coach (Cody) Kennedy (OL) and coach (Sam) Pittman. We looked at the campus and toured their facilities; it was late when I got there. The next day we did a photo shoot, I saw the whole facilities, the weight room, went down on the field, ate, and had a meeting with coach Kennedy. We were supposed to go to the baseball game, but it was rained out. We hung out a little bit and left.”
April 7-10, the Cyclones got Lovett to Ames.
“That was really good,” Lovett shared. “It was really fun. I was there for three days. On the first day, as soon as we landed I went to their facilities and watched them workout. We ate and I talked to some of the coaches. I saw their facilities and they went over their education programs.
“On the next day, I went back and sat in on meetings, saw them practice, ate, and hung around. I took a campus tour and that night I was with the players. The next day I did a photo shoot and I talked to their coaches for a second time. I talked to coach (Jeff) Myers (OL). He did a PowerPoint presentation with my film and compared it with NFL players talking about how he can make it better.”
Since Lovett’s visit to Iowa State, he visited Florida for the Gators’ Orange and Blue Spring Game.
