After listening to the coaches describe the players and watching the videos, I thought I'd share my thoughts.

I think the four guys I came away most impressed with were two guys in the trenches, one on defense, one on offense, and then two hybrid guys/athletes.

Jamahl Johnson is a beast. I never realized this dude was running sprints in track at 310 pounds. They said he ran an 11.9 100 meters. Now I know that's not blazing fast, but I remember in a PE class when I was a high school senior, they made us all run timed 100-meter dashes, I think because the PE teacher was also the track coach and he was looking for some runners. The fastest guy in our class ran a 12.2 and he was a skinny dude. My brother, who was a big dude at about 6-0, 240 in high school ran an 11.6. Put 70 more pounds on him and I doubt he could have done an 11.9. And he popped some of those ball carriers in his video. Really, the crowd was oohing and aahing at every one of the defensive line guys. I think we got a good crop there.

The other trench guy who impressed me was Josh Mueller. He looked long and lean and mean in the videos and if I remember right, when Manning was talking about him, he said every time he sees him he's grown more. He moved very well for a guy of his size.

The two hybrid guys are Carson Lensing and Dylan Soehner. I call them hybrids, cause they could play a number of positions. Lensing looked good in a number of different positions and his speed was better than I thought it would be. He played RB a lot in those clips and played it well, I thought. It was kind of funny watching a guy that big carrying the ball against small high school kids. I had doubts he could play LB when they first mentioned it, but I can see it now.

I never realized Soehner was a three-sport athlete. At 6-7, 280, he might grow into an OT, but I can see why they want him at TE. He's very athletic and moves well and played both basketball and baseball, where he was a pretty decent pitcher, according to the coach who introduced him.

Another thing that stands out is the speed. There were a number of recruits, a couple of DBs and a RB, who run 10.7 or below 100 meter dashes, and several more who looked very fast on video.

I was also surprised by how good Jalen Martin looked. I think he looked just as good, if not better, in his high school videos as Lazard did in his. I did not expect him to have the kind of speed he has and he was shiftier than I thought a 6-3, 200 guy could be.
