Help me think through the issues with immunization passports.

One would have come in handy prior to my eye surgery to prove I got the COVID shots so I didn't need to have a COVID test. I was allowed to send them a copy of my immunization card to get out of the test, but it would have been easier with an electronic passport. And it would seem to come in handy for travel, particularly international travel.

Every state including Iowa requires proof of vaccination for children to attend public schools. Iowa’s three public universities require proof of mumps, measles and rubella vaccinations to enroll. So there is some precedents that have been set. It doesn't seems much different than a REAL ID (or equivalent documentation) that will soon be required to board a plane in the US.

So where does an immunization passport cross the line? I ask because as a vaccinated person, it seems it would be convenient for me in a number of situations, such as quicker access and freedom of movement at Mayo Clinic and other doctor's offices.
