but i was also impressed that while they played very intensely, the managed to play a very "heady" game. It seems that many times in early season games that the players are so pumped to play that there are always too many late hits, shots delivered out of bounds, and trash talking that goes too far and leads to flags. How many times have we seen opponents bailed out of bad situations by an over zealous defense during the last few years?
I thought this game that they played not only exciting, emotional defense, but also stayed within themselves to play a very smart and in controll brand of defensive football. I would love to see this continue on, especially this coming week when the margin of error is just way to thin to give up easy first downs to a team like the Iowa who wants to wear us down with 1st down after first down.
Could this be the team that plays both the physical and celebral defense that doesn't give games away?
