I think we were over valued by the media because we're fun
to watch and Fred is likeable, and Georges got a lot of off-season hype.

Below is exact email I sent to Smitchix1 (poster on this board for those that don't know) on Tuesday...he was in agreement in his reply back:

Subject was: WARNING

Body of email was:

We are media darlings right now. Getting a lot of people's (ISU & non-ISU people putting together their brackets) hopes up.

Crash & burn on the horizon--remember, there are times we are PAINFUL to watch. As in practically a half of every game.

I hope the players aren't buying all of this. They need to play with a chip on their shoulder.

I think that Georges (and hence ISU) got a lot of off-season/pre-season buzz, more than was maybe deserved after we lost Kane and Ejim. Then, we had "The Saturday" when Game Day was in Ames, and we got a TON of upward publicity there.

We had the 5 straight "come from behind double digit" games. Fun to watch, and memorable. BUT, what was memorable was the second halves...people forgot the god-awful first halves when we were terrible to watch.

Fred is so likeable, and he brings in some fun talent. There are though head scratchers from a game coaching standpoint throughout the season. Fans/media/outsiders remember the likeable part, forget the head scratching part.

I could not believe all the people putting us in their Final 4 this past week. Just felt we were over-valued, and I think yesterday showed that.

We are good, and we're fun. I'm not sure though that we were any better than several of the other good ISU teams we've had.

Having said all of this, the program has consistency and is trending up. That's a good thing.
