at the risk of digging a deeper hole for myself...
My previous thread got locked before I could post this but I still wanted to put it out there. Having just seen the recent announcement, we can move on to speculating who the replacement will be.
Oh, Christ. Read some research. I'm not putting him down for having a speech problem. There is a correlation between stuttering and being able to communicate your thoughts in a timely manner. That's the point I was making. Maybe I could have said it better, but I was trying to be brief and didn't want to write out a whole essay. Time is a component to football. Maybe someone who stutters notices they didn't get the first down and has the wrong play called for 3rd and 1, but doesn't call the timeout to make the correction.
Hell, I have a speech impediment myself. I know how hurtful it can be to be made fun of for the way you speak. I was once of school age and was mocked as anyone would expect at that age. In my case, I sometimes try speaking as fast as my mind is thinking, but my mouth can't keep up and out comes a garbled mess. I've learned to slow down but it is still something I have to consciously think about. A bigger problem is there are certain phonetic sounds I just can't say clearly in sequence with each other. Two of those sounds just happen to be in my first name. Giving my name to someone, like at a restaurant, is about the most torturous thing in the world. People get creative about what they think they hear. Anyone who thinks I'm making fun of anyone else's speech impediment can go pound sand.
