It is only UNI, but we looked so much better than last year. So much deeper on defense. Didn't seem to wear down in the 4th quarter on D like the last couple years, even in that heat/humidity! Helped to have UNI pinned deep so frequently. I think if we can beat the Hogpies next week, we have an outstanding shot at starting 4-0 or even 5-0. Not getting ahead of myself. But hey, it's fun to speculate.
One thing that really bothered me, and Sage Rosenfels alluded to it. I just don't get why Mangino insists on running goal line offense out of the freakin shotgun. Just doesn't make sense handing the ball off at the 5 yard line and giving the D and extra couple seconds to beat their man or bull rush the backfield! If he tries to do that against the rest of the teams on our schedule (and I can almost guarantee you he will, since he did it last season too), we will have a very difficult time scoring TD's running up the gut inside the 5. I sure hope he figures that out.
