The Rivals message board has two great spoiler features that I will try to explain how to use. The first one is a tool called Inline spoiler and the other is simply called Spoiler.
To access the Inline spoiler feature, click on the three dots in the text formatting group of icons which are the first group of icons above the message area. This exposes some additional icons. The inline spoiler icon looks like a Zorro mask at the end of the first group of formatting icons. Below is a clip of how it looks on my computer with the icons circled in red. The look may vary on different computers and mobile devices.
Selecting the mask icon will insert the ISPOILER start and end code words. The code words are contained between brackets. Text entered between the code words will be blurred. You can click on the Preview icon/text at the far right of the icon tool bar to see how it looks. Click again to return to text editing mode.
To access the Spoiler feature, click on the three dots after the group of icons that allows inserting of links, images, media, quotes, tables and more. The three dots again reveals some additional icons. The spoiler icon looks like an eye with a slash through it. Below is a clip of how it looks on my computer with the icons circled in red. Again the look may vary on different computers and mobile devices.
Selecting the slashed eye icon will pop up a dialog box where you can optionally enter a spoiler title. If you don't enter a spoiler title, the button will simply be labeled "Spoiler". Hitting continue at the bottom of the dialog box will the insert the SPOILER start and end code words. If you entered a spoiler title it will be imbedded in the opening code word. Text that will be hidden is entered between the code words in the same manner as the Inline spoiler. You can click on the Preview icon/text at the far right of the icon tool bar to see how it looks and test how it works by clicking the spoiler button. In preview mode clicking the button will expose the hidden text below the button. Click the button again to hide the text. Click the Preview icon/text to return to text editing mode.
Unlike the Inline spoiler feature, I feel like the Spoiler feature name limits it's usefulness. You can use it for more that just hiding spoilers. It is a great feature if you are replying to a post and decide to take an off topic detour. Use the spoiler feature to hide the detour, but give it a name to let readers know what they are getting when they click the button. You can also use the spoiler feature as a way to outline a long post into organized sections. In that way it is a little easier for the reader to understand the post by seeing the outline, and also make it easier to read by clicking each section one by one to read the content without the rest of the post cluttering up the view.
I hope more people make use of these features. Good luck and happy posting.
Inline spoiler
The Inline spoiler feature allows you to blur text in your post so that it's not legible. The reader can click on the blurred text to expose the hidden text. As an example the Iowa State Cyclones are forecast to be the best darn team in the nation in 2021. Click on the blurred text to reveal it and click again to blur it.To access the Inline spoiler feature, click on the three dots in the text formatting group of icons which are the first group of icons above the message area.
