I was listening to the latest Hlas podcast today with Jay Christenson on as a guest. Most of the early talk was about the Hawkeyes, but they eventually got around to the Cyclones. As you would expect they showed no love to the Cyclones and painted it as a sinking ship. They were left dumbfounded that someone with Mangino's credentials could be fired. They figured he probably should have been leading the program.
Bull crap. I've heard enough and saw enough to know Mangino was an issue for Iowa State. And anyone that pays attention knows that Mangino's big claim to fame came due to a very weak schedule and on the backs of a very good quarterback. Of course, I would love to have a season like his Orange Bowl season, but I'm not going to put him on a pedestal knowing that he wasn't navigating very rough waters to get there.
