I have heard many saying Hilton Magic is gone, it's all Prohm's fault, the players don't respect the home court, etc.

Out of my own curiosity, I went back 20 years, which coincidentally was LE's first year as coach, to see what our home records were each season. Looking at the results, I think there may be some people living in a haze of a handful of great home seasons when in reality, there were seasons for every coach in the past two decades that had many losses in Hilton.

Larry Teams:
1998-99: 12-4
1999-00: 18-0
2000-01: 16-0
2001-02: 11-4
2002-03: 13-5
Total: 60-13 (82%)

Wayne Teams:
2003-04: 17-1
2004-05: 14-3
2005-06: 11-7
Total: 42-11 (79%)

Greg Teams:
2006-07: 12-7
2007-08: 12-6
2008-09: 14-5
2009-10: 11-7
Total: 49-25 (66%)

Fred Teams:
2010-11: 13-6
2011-12: 16-2
2012-13: 16-1
2013-14: 15-1
2014-15: 15-2
Total: 75-12 (86%)

Steve Teams:
2015-16: 14-2
2016-17: 12-3
2017:18: 9-7
2018-19: 11-3
Total: 46-15 (75%)

Every coach had a season in which they lost at least 5 games in a season in Hilton

Average losses in Hilton per season over the past 20 years: 4

I am in no way saying all things are equal with each coach. At all. Fred and Larry obviously had great success in Hilton...Fred more consistently as Larry actually had season losses in Hilton of 4/4/5 besides the two undefeated seasons.

And I am not saying all the losses are the same either. Losses to TCU and Baylor this season aren't the same as a top 5 Kansas or top ten Texas, etc.

But the fact is, our AVERAGE season win total just isn't elite. Our winning percentage over the past two decades as a whole is 272-76, or 78%. Does that scream hostile atmosphere to you? There are seasons that are special for sure...but far more often we have multiple home losses even with our best coaches.

I am also not saying something doesn't seem amiss with this team at home. I wouldn't go as far as to say they don't respect it, but it seems they can just show up and things will just work itself out...like real magic. When in reality they need to realize the crowd feeds off he hustle and play of the team and wills them to victory.

Anyway, that was my research for the night done during my insomnia. Off to bed again.
