Read in a wrestling site page on Facebook that high school participation topped 300,000 for first time in 45 years. Sorry couldn't find it to post. Went to the State Duals districts in Sergeant Bluff Tuesday night. 3 teams with No. 1 seed SBL with a 1st round bye. SBL won the championship dual with a controversial decision in the 3rd to last match (106 lbs). Our freshman led 6-0 and was riding the 3rd period out after a takedown when his opponent got a leg in and was awarded a defensive pin at the buzzer. It was overruled by the 2nd judge. They did talk with the scorekeeper who verified it. Film shows the ref was tapped by the person watching the clock about a split second before the ref hit the mat. It was crazy and I don't blame Glenwood for being pissed. Match was held in our bb gym and the SBL side was pretty much full. The other two teams (Glenwood and Webster City) had significant drives to Sgt. Bluff bad had decent attendance. Exciting night.
