since Hawkeyes are named after Chief Black Hawk of the Sauk tribe will they need to change their nickname?
Before you come after my Chiefs.....
The Mayor of Kansas City was Roe Bartle, he was instrumental in recruiting Lamar Hunt to KC. The Mayor also lobbied to have the team named after his nickname “Chief.” i.e. Chief Executive Officer, Chief of Staff, Chief Justice, etc.
The Chiefs have taken out around 2000 seats in the end zone upper deck for a drum deck to honor Native Americans.
