This thread below on the WVU Scout Big 12 free forum talks about not only the U of Michigan declining attendance, but more importantly the general decline in college football game attendance. They're saying athletic departments trying to sell increasingly pricey football tickets are competing with bigger HD televisions at home and fully stocked inexpensive liquor cabinets.
The point is AD's need more and more bells and whistles to keep people interested at games. The 2 JTS video screens and the new ribbon board will certainly add to the eye candy and game day experience. People want to be dazzled.
