  1. Abortion - she believes women should have access to abortions. How that plays in an election depends on the individuals views. Polls often say more favor abortion than oppose it, so Kamala would have an advantage and Trump will probably not want to make this a big issue in the campaign.
  2. The Border - Biden asked Harris to try to address the root problems of migration at the border by focusing on countries in Central and South America. By most accounts she has failed. The Republicans played politics with the bipartisan border security bill and got away with it. Trump will have a huge advantage over her on this issue as she will be viewed as incompetent on this issue and Trump strong.
  3. Israel and Gaza - Harris has been critical of Israel for their handling of the war. That may find some support among the vocal supporters you've seen protesting at colleges across the country. But how many people share those views? Her lack of experience in foreign affairs compared to former President Trump will be difficult to overcome. He will argue the attack on Israel and the war that is ongoing would not have happened under his watch. Kamala has an uphill battle on this issue. I don't know if she can try to avoid making it a central issue in her campaign because that only plays into the perception of her inexperience. And if she is too critical of Israel she may gain some fringe supporters, but risk losing many more.
  4. The Economy - Harris will focus on the economic recovery. Trump on the high inflation. They will do battle over the working class. Kamala may likely talk about tax cuts for the working class, while Trump will talk about bringing jobs back to America and protecting them with tariffs. Get your popcorn out on this one. The economy is often the issue that swings elections.
  5. Climate - Harris is the poster child for addressing climate change. Trump is the opposite, showing a disregard for the issue. He walked away from the climate accord rather than working to find something acceptable to America and the world. On a personal basis this is the issue that most frustrates me. The solutions out of the Harris camp are to damaging to the economy and disruptive to industries in my opinion, but a total disregard for the issue is just as bad if not worse. I've said for a long time we need a carrot not a stick to solve climate issues. We need technologies to lead the way with solutions that create a better mousetrap. Any disruption to industries would be because they are replaced by newer and better solutions which drive new industries or force old ones to adapt or die. America should lead the way with development of these technologies or we forever cede them to China and other foreign countries, while our old industries die off. This is what is happening right now as those climate friendly products and technologies are largely being imported.
