It has certainly been a trying month of June for a rising senior from the state of Florida, who recently appeared set on making a decision only to delay it in lieu of taking more time to consider all his options.

Iowa State will benefit from Jacksonville Sandalwood defensive back Quran Hafiz's decision to prolong things, as the program will host him on his first-ever visit to campus this weekend.

"I like Iowa State a lot," said the three-star recruit Hafiz. "The coaches are excited I'm coming up there and have been hitting me up a lot. I'm looking forward to going up there this weekend. I'll be there on Friday and will be visiting all day on Saturday. I'm looking forward to seeing how well I'd fit into the program, the defensive schemes and how well I mesh with the players."

Hafiz has more than 30 offers overall and has narrowed his list of two occasions, with the Cyclones making the cut both times. His most recent list included ISU, Minnesota, Duke and Virginia Tech, although he said last week on social media that he's now opened it back up to everyone.

The 6-foot-0, 170-pound Hafiz said he wants to ensure he makes the right decision the first time around and needed to get around to more campuses.

"I was pretty close, but decided just to wait and look over everybody and see what they all have to offer," he said. "I really just wanted to visit a lot of places and see a lot of places. In addition to Iowa State, I'll be visiting USF, Syracuse and Virginia Tech. I don't know if I can get up to Minnesota."

Hafiz says the coaching staff has said he'd be a solid fit to what's shaping up to be a banner 2017 crop of newcomers for the Cyclones.

"They're telling me what I bring to the table and how great this recruiting class is going to be," he said. "It's looking good so far. This coaching staff must be recruiting pretty well to get those guys."

Hafiz said he now has no date or time in mind for making a commitment.
