Much like color vs colour, gray is the more common spelling in America, while grey is the way it's spelled in Britain. A tip on how to remember which to use, the A in grAy is American, while the E in grEy is English.
May I never struggle with this again, although just like I occasionally like to use colour, I may likewise go for the grey spelling. Grey just feels a little more dreary to me, like grey skies. While Gray is something of a happier note, like what I'd pull out of my box of Crayons. After all, they don't call them Creyons, do they?
