With all the excitement, I almost forgot this:
Gary Barta was sitting 1st row along the steps, right behind the the PA guy at the scorer's table....just like most visiting "dignitaries" do. I sit a few rows behind him.
About 10 minutes before game time, a guy and girl, about 20 and dressed in Hawkeye gear, walk down the steps to Gary's seat. They begin to tell Gary that he and his buddy are in their seats and are asking him to get up and move.
At first Gary was laughing it off, as if they were joking, but this young clueless couple must not have recognized Barta and were insisting that Gary move so they could sit down. He finally convinced them that they were mistaken and needed to leave him alone.
The thought occurred to me later....maybe they were a couple of Kirk Ferentz's relatives showing their authority over Barta. After all, it works for Kirk
By the way, two seats to Barta's right was the arrogant donor/fan (doctor??) from Iowa City with the punky haircut that sits in that seat every time Iowa is at Hilton. As usual, he was standing and clapping and acting like a visiting ass every time Iowa made so much as a good pass in the 1st 10 minutes. But for the next 30 minutes it was a joy to watch him stay slithered in his seat with nothing to say.
He was the guy giving Georges a big earful during the big comeback game a few years back....and Georges got the best of him at the end.
