I have seen many posters say that Jack Trice needs a bigger Press Box to look impressive. Well today I was walking through the sky walks around Kinnick, and the press box definitely dominates the West side of that stadium. To compare that with Jack Trice sky boxes is really kind of deceiving. First, at Iowa, the press box is the ONLY specialty seating in the whole stadium. So to compare apples to apples, at Iowa, you have the press box. At ISU, you have the Jack Trice Club + The Sukup Club + the SkyBox Suites + the West Side Suites. So I have to believe that specialty seating at ISU now outnumbers those at Iowa, it just is not all in one giant Press Box.

Then I noticed that the press box in Kinnick is a straight shot across the side from Goal line to Goal line. At ISU the Skybox is from about the 30 to the 30. So it is shorter. But what if Jack Trice had a Press Box that ran the full arc of the West Side of the stadium? That Press box would be monstrous in size. Going from end to end following the arc, it would probably be 3 times the size of Kinnicks press Box, since the sides in Jack Trice are far larger than what Kinnick has. To follow the arc completely, you are about 30 yards past the goal line, where Iowas press box ends at the goal line.

Then in addition to this, Kinnick made their seat widths smaller, to get more attendance. The Jack Trice fans get more inches for their butts. Also, Kinnick has no seats in the regular stadium that have seat backs, whereas Jack Trice has seat backs in the center sections . I guess I am saying that people have to notice what Jack Trice actually has before wishing for a bigger Press Box just to brag.
