The in-coming class at this time looks roughly equivalent to recent classes. However, the new coaching staff has a number of good-to-strong candidates still considering ISU, with quite a few planning visits between now and Signing Day.

How good in terms of national rankings or rankings within the conference could this class get if our new staff can close on the best of the undecided still considering ISU? In these uncertain circumstances (new coaching staff recruiting a wide geographic area), what seems likely?

The basic question, "What are our biggest needs?" is really hard to answer for outsiders, and possibly even for the coaching staff given that they haven't seen the current players in the weight room or on the practice field. Not to mention that some current players may be transferring or dropping football, either with the coaches' encouragement or under their own volition. Obviously this touches on the other question, "How big will this class be?"

From Paul's pinned list, I would consider TE Soehner (AK), DT Hewitt (FL), DT Watts (IL), DE Bailey (FL), OL Doerger (OH), LB Doucet (PA), WR Ballard (MO), and RB Killins (FL), OL Foster, OL Jackson (MI) as all big "gets." Some of those, (Watts?) may be gone or most likely gone. There may be others more desirable on or not on Paul's list.

Thoughts?
