You want to see something incredible? Pull up the Iowa State 2017 commitment list on Rivals and sort by Rivals Rating, "RR."
With Bailey's commitment tonight, we have four kids with an RR of 5.7, in addition to 4-star Kam White with a 5.8. And, there's a whole boatload of RR = 5.6 kids. Those four kids at 5.7 are virtually 4-star kids. Not much gray area separating them from 5.8 kids (4-stars), if I understand how Rivals works.
Guys, this is incredible. I never thought I'd see the day. In past years, we were fortunate to have one, maybe two, kids with a RR = 5.7. If you look at the middle third of Big 12 schools that Iowa State is striving to compete with on the field (WVU, Tech, Okie State, K-State, perhaps Baylor soon), the common thread is they always seem to have several RR = 5.7 kids to anchor their classes, along with a couple 5.8 four star kids.
I know we've been excited about this staff's recruiting for some time now, but seeing the numbers really blew me away. We're actually getting the talent needed to compete with those teams I mentioned above. And these are the kinds of kids that'll be needed to ocassionally upset schools like Oklahoma, TCU and the Texas team we saw the other night against ND.
Really pumped!
