A weekend trip to Iowa State was the first unofficial visit of any kind for an Indianapolis high school defensive end.
Ben Davis Class of 2017 prospect Esezi Otomewo was on campus Saturday with his high school coach and teammate LeShaun Minor watching the Cyclone spring game.
“It was great and I really loved the crowd,” said Otomewo. “The fan base is crazy. It was a great spring game. They took us around campus and told me they had a design building and that would probably help with my major. I like the coaching staff and head coach with how he presents himself. How he was talking to us, it sounds like he’s going to make a change there.”
The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Otomewo, who picked up an offer from the Cyclones back in February, said he was impressed with his first campus visit.
“I liked how they told me a lot about the school and how they would take care of me and stuff like that,” he said.
Defensive line coach Eli Rasheed also made a positive impression on the junior defensive end.
“I like Coach (Eli) Rasheed and how he coaches,” Otomewo said. “He told me I could come in and play a stand-up defensive end and they might alternate me in a pass-rushing role. I could come in on third downs and stuff like that.”
Otomewo also has offers from Western Michigan, South Florida, New Mexico, Miami (Ohio), Toledo,
He doesn’t appear close to making a commitment.
“I’m taking it really slow and haven’t made my decision yet,” Otomewo said.
