I talked with a current FB player recently (young player, came to play for CPR). He said that CMC is far more strict than the previous regime and many of the 40 plus players that are gone needed to be gone for multiple reasons. Players truly liked Rhoads but respect Campbell. Standards are higher and nothing is given but earned only.
The cleaning out of the team really did shake things up when many players, even some returning starters (like Leath) weren't invited to camp or haven't played. Jaquan Bailey is the real deal but his brother not so much. Deshaunte Jones is a freak who has done things in practice that have amazed everyone. Isn't sure why Tucker hasn't been as productive as last year but is battling nagging injuries.
He said that the at the beginning of the season both the coaches and players were trying to figure things out and there was a lot of tension and frustration but feels as though they (coaches and players) are much better than they were in August. The team wishes they had another shot at UNI and Iowa.
The perceived good relationship between Lanning and Park is a reality as both want to play but root for each other. Park has an incredible arm and has thrown balls nearly 80 yards in practice. Quirky guy but well liked.
NFL scouts are at practice regularly, checking out the the secondary, he said mostly Tribune. Philberts locker has been cleaned out and he has no contact with the team, he didn't know if there was a chance of him returning. Sounds he did have a terrible attitude and CMC places a great amount of importance on the respect for women and Philberts actions were far out of line.
I have been a member this board for over a decade and rarely post. Had a connection to the previous staff but not this one. However I have always enjoyed coming here for little nuggets of information and like to pass along what I hear. Nothing earth shattering but interesting nonetheless.
