I and many on this board get caught up in believing that a team is better than it really is.
After watching this years MBB team for about 20 games I have come to the conclusion that we are lacking a lot. We just aren't a very good team
1. Toughness and BB IQ : We are lacking this in spades , we have no Kane or a Houge that back down from no one.
2. Depth : we are about 6 deep an elite team has at least 8 or 9. Because of our lack of depth we "put in on cruise" to much or are tired at the end of the games.
3. Team speed : we have none Thomas and Nader are okay wings but not really great athletes which an elite has. McKay and Morris are the only that match up well with their"man" and even McKey gets pushed around.
4. Post depth: We have 2 McKay and Georges when you have to play a 6-4 kid in the post were are in trouble, we are missing 2 " bangers/enforcers to do the dirty work and stop the layups. McKay could help a bunch if he got his head out of his a$$.
5. Coaching: Fred killed us by quiting so late and not recruiting the depth this team needed. Coach Prohm being a 1st year coach in the Big12 has had his ups and downs,coaching someones else's team can't be a lot of fun for him, but overall i would say he is making the best of what he has.
I still have hope the McKay comes back and is the defense force he was last season and we make a run in March. There is always HOPE
