Going by the numbers, the Big 12 is the strongest conference in Division I from top to bottom. Just take a look at Bubble Watch.
Half the Big 12 is already safely ensconced in the "lock" category: Kansas, Texas, Baylor, Kansas State and Iowa State. In other words, the Big 12 looks very much like a conference that has produced the past two national champions.
