At the risk of being banned or have this thread locked as well, allow me to encourage all to read and understand the challenge we face before making broad, sweeping statements about threats to our security.
Not an expert, but I've been watching closely since 2009 when a 12 month assignment took me throughout the Middle East region. Among the first dilemmas we face is forcing ourselves to stop thinking about ISIS from a Western perspective. Our view of short-term is measured in hours, days, weeks and months. A long-term solution from the Western perspective is so often married to the four-year presidential cycle. The enemy we face in ISIS operates on timelines of decades, centuries and millennia. The rise of "Chaostan" did not happen overnight and sadly we will not resolve overnight.
If you are interested in a quick read that pushes the lens farther back on the situation we are in, find a copy of The Thousand Year War in the Mideast: How It Affects You Today (An Uncle Eric Book). The book is written from the perspective of an Uncle writing letters to his adolescent nephew. These books were helpful to me as a father helping my 15 year-old son understand why I was in that region of the world for 12 months.

You may not agree with all of Maybury's perspectives in the book, but it contextualizes the conflict.
I also found label to the political philosophy that most appeals to me; juris naturalism:
