If Fred leaves I think that will be devastating for Iowa State athletics. Football isn't carrying any weight right now. Basketball has provided something for fans to be proud of. If Fred leaves and we don't sustain the success he has, or the excitement, I'm afraid many fans who jumped on the Cyclone bandwagon will bail out. I bet Fred has no idea how much he means to Iowa State. I don't mean to be dramatic, but there will be a big void if he leaves. Hiring new coaches is always a crap shoot and the chances of failure seem to be as big as the chances for success. Maybe Rhoads can pull off a miracle season and keep the fan base excited.
