The first Cygarin Basketball Ratings of the season has been updated.
I thought I would get this in before the Iowa game since there has been so much hand wringing, and chickin'-littling going on since the Cincinnati game.
I'm not going to say much for an analysis, and will leave most of it up to you to do so. But I will say that the early indications are that Iowa State is playing better coming out of the season's gate than any team that I can recall, including last year. Let's not forget that last year we lost to 75th power ranked UNI at about this time.
I don't like losing any more than anybody else does, especially at Hilton. And most especially the way we played. But we lost to a top-25 power ranked team in overtime playing perhaps the worst and most lethargic basketball that I have seen Iowa State play in a very long time.
Though disappointed and maybe even angry, if we can take a (presumably) good team like Cincinnati playing that bad into overtime....that tells me something good about this Iowa State team. Providing of course, we utilize it. By all indications....that game was the exception rather than the norm for the season so far.
Iowa?...Well take a look at the charts, and you tell me. I ain't talkin'. Not yet.
After the Iowa game, I will start to do a little more in-depth analysis. But I would ceratainly be interested in anybody looking at the spreadsheets to tell my what you think they indicate..... at this point in time.
