The Iowa State men’s basketball team opened its Italian Tour with a convincing 94-77 win against the Netherlands Tuesday evening in Rome.
Iowa State busted open a close game in the second quarter and led by 10 at the half as Prentiss Nixon connected on a three-pointer from the corner to send ISU into the break with a double-digit lead.
The Cyclones outscored the Netherlands 35-18 in the third quarter and went on to win by 17.
Terrence Lewis led six Cyclones in double figures with 15 points off the bench, while Solomon Young had 13 points and Penn State transfer Rasir Bolton added 12. Tre Jackson and Nixon finished with 11 points each and Tyrese Haliburton had 10 points, six assists and zero turnovers.
The Cyclones shot 55.2 percent from the floor and connected on 14-of-30 three-pointers. ISU had 23 assists and just seven turnovers in the contest.
Iowa State returns to action Thursday at noon (CT) against the Siena All-Stars.
