They Hawkeyes closed the gap to 11-9 with a win in gymnastics. Our gals had a good meet, except in a mirror image of last year falls on the beam determined the meet winner. Last year Iowa imploded. This year our first two gymnasts fell. For those that don't follow the sport, there are 6 competitors in each event, but only the top 5 scores count. So you can mess up one routine, but not two. We had a slim lead before the last rotation, but the falls sealed our fate.
So now the Cy-Hawk comes down to softball next month. The best the Hawkeyes can do is tie, but that has been true for quite some time now.
