I haven't seen this brought up much in the string of threads from disappointed fans following the 0-2 start. Could that long-ago prediction from a teary-eyed CPR in his farewell press conference that the 2016 Cyclones would be bowling added to the level of hype entering this season? And contributed to the amount of shock from the loss to UNI and blowout at Iowa? I thought at the time he said that, a 6-6 record would likely be the high point for this year's team, but that would have meant everything had gone right. I suppose CMC could have just gone with the flow in year one, not torn everything down, and perhaps made a bowl game. But in the long-term, would the program had been any better off if the total rebuild not started sooner?
