Iowa State junior safety Kamari Cotton-Moya was named Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Week after his outstanding performance vs. Texas Tech on Saturday.

A native of Bakersfield, Calif., Cotton-Moya was a key player in Iowa State's dominating performance vs. one of the nation's most potent offenses. Texas Tech was averaging 46.0 points per game prior to kickoff, but the Cyclones held the Red Raiders to season lows in points (10) and total offense (306).

Cotton-Moya had two takeaways in the game, including a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown, ISU's first defensive touchdown in over two years. It was his second interception of the season.

The co-captain also forced a fumble and recovered it. He ended the game with six tackles and one TFL.
