I attended the Coaches vs Cancer event last night. I had never been before and really wasn't expecting much, but I had a great time. The event starts off with a 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 hour reception with an open bar with free domestic beer and wine, or cash bar for mixed drinks and premium beers. VIPs get to come an hour early, which makes for quite a long "happy hour". It's a big fund-raiser so I'm sure they want to get the guests all loosened up for the silent and live auctions. It is really a first class event and I highly recommend attending one of these, especially if you are in a charitable mood. They raised $275,000 last night if I heard that right.
Prohm, Jacobson, McCaffery and Giacoletti were all in attendance and were very accessible during the reception. I talked to all of them except Giacoletti because I didn't know what he looked like before the program/dinner and I probably wouldn't have had anything to say to him anyway. The GF bid on and won a wine tasting event for 20 people. The problem is the event is at the Johnston Wine Styles location and we live in Cedar Rapids. She is hoping she can hold it at the new Wine Styles not far from our home in Cedar Rapids, but I think that is highly unlikely.
