I went over to the Iowa wrestling board this morning looking for some chatter about the championships. I was probably not shocked but kind of surprised at how Brands has fallen out of favor with Iowa fans.
It was a long thread, and probably 50% of the posters were calling for a change at the top (Brands) and the rest said a change definitely was at least needed with his coaching staff. This after finishing 5th this year and placing 3 in the finals.
What really torked off their fans was there wasn't a single take-down managed by their 3 finalists during the championship matches....which I gotta admit is very unusual for the way Brands has coached over the years.
Penn State has won 5 out of the last 6 national titles, and this is really sticking in the craw of Iowa fans who feel entitled to being on top themselves after so many years of success.
