Went to watch the Cap City games yesterday and came away impressed with Merrill Holden. I know they are just pick up games but he brought a full tank of energy and didnt take stretches off. He shot 3s, blocked shots, threw down a huge dunk and rebounded. If we can get just a 1/4 of what I saw yesterday we will be pleased.
Monte was going thru the motions. Played at about 80%. He is not a one-on-one player which is what these games are. He really needs the set plays and picks to be successful in my opinion. Being a true point and not knowing where teammates are going to be makes it difficult. He had an off day shooting.
Really wanted to see Jakolby Long but he didnt play.
Niang and McKay were there also. My son who just turned 5 is a die hard fan of Monte so getting to meet him was pretty cool. My son zeroed in on Matt Thomas when he walked in with Niang and zipped right past Georges to Matt and that made him chuckle a little bit.
I highly recommend going to watch these games. The players are fun to watch and accessible. If you want autographs dont wait until the fan fest deal where you have to stand in line for 2 hours. Get them here.
