I decided to check out the C-RTC happy hour tonight and was not disappointed. These small social events are a lot of fun. Unlike the bigger affairs there is plenty of time to interact with the coaches in a casual atmosphere. Quite a few wrestlers were there including the newly crown Junior World Champion. I met some great people, but didn't know anyone other than the coaches and wrestlers.
If you ever have a chance, make a point to attend one of the wrestling socials. This one was free and to my surprise included free drinks and pizza. I passed on the pizza, but got my fill of beer. They usually hold socials after wrestling meets. They are more well attended than this event that I believe was limited to C-RTC donors, but they are still fun events. You don't get this kind of access and interaction in any of the other sports. And as the team gets better I expect the events will continue to grow.
I think it's going to be a fun year. You can get tickets here. The home schedule has eight home events this year including Iowa, Oklahoma State and UNI duals. Reserved seats for the season are $99. If you're on the fence, it's better to get your seats now. As this program gets back into the national picture, good seats will be harder to come by.
