AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior guard Izaiah Brockington is one of 10 shooting guards named to the watch list for the 2022 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award, announced today by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Brockington is having an impressive first season at Iowa State, leading the Cyclones in scoring and rebounding with 16.8 points and 7.8 rebounds, both of which rank among the top three in the Big 12 Conference. The Philadelphia native is fourth in the league shooting 48.3 percent from the field, while also connecting on 40.9 percent of his 3-point attempts. He is shooting 80.4 percent at the charity stripe.

Brockington owns a league-best seven double-doubles and has reached double figures in 17 of 21 games, tallying 20 or more points seven times.

He’s one of just four power conference guards averaging 16.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

College basketball fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies in each of the three rounds. In late February, the watch list of 10 players for the 2022 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award will be narrowed to five. In March, those finalists will be presented to Mr. West and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee where a winner will be selected.

The winner of the 2022 Jerry West Award will be presented on a to be determined date, along with the other four members of the Men’s Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Bob Cousy Point Guard Award, the Julius Erving Small Forward Award, the Karl Malone Power Forward Award and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center Award, in addition to the Women’s Starting Five.

Brockington and the No. 20 Cyclones face No. 10 Kansas tonight at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
