Boomer Sooner

Did anyone realize that there's some controversy involving the name Boomer Sooner and the Sooner mascot? Apparently, a group of students at OU says the phrase Boomer Sooner connotes genocide of native Americans. They want to rid the university of the mascot and the "Boomer Sooner" fight song. They say the land rush from where the university derived its nickname and song was actually a land grab and the land was stolen from native Americans after they were killed off or resettled on less desirable lands.
