I think people forget just how good Todd Blythe was for us. I know I did. I was looking up some stats to see what the career record for TD receptions is and to see if Lazard had a chance to break it. The career record is 31 by Blythe.

With his TD catch Saturday, Lazard has 16 career TDs, 7 this year. He'd have to break the school record for most TDs in a game (held by Blythe with 4) next week with 5 and then break the school record for most TDs in a season (held by Blythe and Bundrage with 9 each) with 10 if he comes back next year just to tie Blythe.

Lazard is, however, only 85 yards away from 1,000 receiving yards on the year. He has an outside shot at most receiving yards in a season (held by Lane Danielsen at 1,073) and career receptions (held by Blythe with 176). He has 166 career receptions, so he needs 10 to tie and 11 to break the record. With 915 receiving yards this year, he would need 154 to tie and 155 to break the season receiving yard record held by Danielsen.

Interestingly, Danielsen's season record for yards of 1,073 came on 63 receptions. The year Tracy Henderson set the season record for receptions at 81, he also set the season record for yardage at 1,051. So Danielsen had 22 more yards on 18 fewer receptions. Lazard has 65 receptions so far this year.
