I ranked the teams one through 10 based on who every one has returning, talent level, impact recruits (4 star or higher) and coaches. I realize sometimes 3 star recruits can be major contributors as freshmen, although it is not likely. Tech had a couple this year. I know there is still spring recruiting yet and we still don't know if certain guys are going to transfer out or declare the draft. For example will Jones be available for Texas next year? Anyway, here it is and flame away where I may be off on my predictions.
1) KSU-return pretty much all of the key players. This will be the most experienced team in the league and they have plenty of talent too. Not really any impact recruits coming in yet, but they won't need them. This should be the team to knock KU out.
2) Kansas-they lose 2 key guys including Graham. Didn't see Azubuike in any mock drafts so he may back. They will have plenty of talent, they always do. They bring in a pair of 5 star recruits and a pair of 4 stars for next year. Plus Self is the coach.
3) Iowa State-Return 4 starters and added a Virginia transfer that may be their best player. Freshmen Lard (12 pts per game) and Wigginton (17pts per game) are also extremely talented and will be back. Injured Babb returns at point. Impact 4 star recruits Tucker Horton and Zion Griffon should add depth.
4) TCU-even though they loose Williams and Brodziansky, they still return 56 points a game plus they get Fisher back at pt guard. Other key returners are Baine, Noi, Robinson and Miller. Dixon redshirted 4 of his freshmen this year including two 4 stars in that group. Finally, Dixon knows what the fk he is doing. He is a great coach.
5) Texas-hard to say who Texas will have back next year. It appears DO, Roach, Coleman, Davis and Sims are the key returners. Jones? Add a very talented recruiting class in Hepa, Hayes, and Lidell. So Texas will have a talented roster, maybe a little on the young side. I would put Texas as high as number 3 based on talent, but I just don't trust Smart to coach them up to that level.
6)Texas Tech-Lose their star player. But return talented Freshmen in both of the Smiths and Culver. Also return Odiase and Maretti. Impact recruit is 4 star Moore. Maybe I have Tech to high, but I think Beard is a great coach and will have them competitive again next year.
7). WVU-lose their guard court, Carter and Miles. Huggy goes deep into his bench, he plays a lot guys. Key returners include Konate, West, Bolden, Allen, Ahmed, and Harris. They have a 6'10 4 star coming in. I would put WVU higher because Huggy is a good coach and they play a unique style of basketball, but they just won't have much for senior leadership next year.
8)Oklahoma-They lose key player Young and Lattin. Return James, Manek, McGusty, Odomes, and McNeace. Key 4 star recruit is Beiniemy. I just don't see a proven point guard with experience to lead this team. Young carried to much of the load for them, they will have to learn to play without him.
9)OSU-Loses their best play in Carroll. Other key losses are Soloman, and Smith. Key returners are McGriff, Shine, Averette, and Dziagwa. None of those guys appear to be as good of a scorer as Carroll, and this team also lack experienced bigs. No 4 star recruits coming in.
10). Baylor-loses 4 key seniors. Key returners are Clark, Vital, and Mclure. But that is only about 21 points a game. Impact recruit is 4 star Mayer.
