As some of you know, Mrs. LC and I pretty much quit drinking several years ago, do so now only on special occasions when scheduled ahead of time.
Naturally, as soon as we quit, about 500 (it seemed) craft breweries opened up in our area.
I vowed that since I was only going to drink occasionally, I was never going to drink a "light" beer again. That worked until last year's bowl game (a special occasion), because they had no real beer for sale in the stadium. Three kinds of light, no real beer. It drank Busch Light. We got our butts handed to us by Notre Dame. Just sayin'.........
Anyway, I've decided I don't much like IPA, which is what most craft breweries push. I've become a pilsner man, preferably Pilsner Urquel from Prague. Also love Heineken pilsner, but that isn't available in the USA. It's the mother's milk of the Caribbean. If I can't find Pilsner Urquel, I like Lagunitas Pils and I'm a fan of Carlsberg Elephant, which has the modest slogan "Probably the best beer in the world" on the package. Elephant is 7.2% alcohol and Lagunitas is 6%, compared to 4.4% for Pilsner Urquel, so that's something to keep in mind.
If this post offends anyone, I apologize. I've spent a lot of time on the Hawkeye Report Off Topic board -- no longer go there -- and the threads on food, drink and movies are usually interesting. Also the ones with nekkid ladies, but I think we'll have to work up to that here.
