Iowa State junior forward Georges Niang was named to the Lute Olson Award Mid-Season Watch List, announced today by CollegeInsider.com.
The Lute Olson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I player who has played at least two seasons. Freshmen can be named to the season-ending All-America team, but are not eligible to receive the Player of the Year honors.
Niang has led the ninth-ranked Cyclones to a 14-3 (4-1 Big 12) start to the season and is one of eight players nationally to average more than 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
Niang is also on the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List, Wooden Award Midseason Top-25 and was a preseason All-Big 12 First-Team Selection.
